Global Center for Financial Literacy

The Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC) is dedicated to developing and testing innovative educational programs to improve financial literacy and financial decision-making. Housed within the School of Business at George Washington University (GW) in Washington, DC, GFLEC is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. The Center’s proximity to downtown Washington, DC is one of its greatest assets. At its most fundamental level, its unique location places it next door to the center of US decision-making processes and to headquarters of many economic institutions such as the Federal Reserve, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, IMF, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, White House, and US Treasury. GFLEC is reflective of expertise not only in financial literacy, but also in the translational power of academic research to inform change on the macro-level, including influencing policy and changing practitioner practices.
